Así la voz pertenece al grupo de las formaciones burlescas creadas por el alcohol como cufifo (véalo) la chupeta = embriaguez (Echeverría 160) chupingo = achispado. Estas dos derivadas del cast. chupar. Por influencias inglesas en materia alcohólica compárese el chupinghaus (chuping + house) de que habla Arona 174, i los numerosos bars que desde unos diez años han invadido el país.

Rodriguez 176. || 2. mearse como chuico = = mearse mucho, se dice de 'huahuas'. || 3. bacinica para urinar, etc. (?).

ETIMOLOJÍA: mapuche, Febrés: 'chuyco - tinajita.

NOTA: La voz chuica o chuico de Costa Rica, Gagini 231, Ferraz, 59 que significa andrajo, harapo; hacer chuicas = hacer tira; chuicas = trastos, trebejos, | deberá derivarse de otra fuente. No es probable que sea introducida de Chile, cono cree Gagini.
